Statement on Massachusetts Senate Approving Phone-Free Schools Bill

The following statement can be attributed to David Monahan, campaign director at the Boston-based child advocacy group Fairplay:

“Families across Massachusetts can now see a brighter future for their kids, thanks to today’s state Senate vote approving a strong, ‘bell-to-bell’ phone-free schools bill. With this vote, Massachusetts is now one big step closer to joining the growing number of states that have taken action to enhance students’ education and protect their well-being by getting phones out of schools from the first bell in the morning to the last bell in the afternoon.

“As a Boston-based nonprofit, Fairplay thanks the Senate for voting overwhelmingly in favor of this vital legislation, and we look forward to the bill soon passing the House and being signed into law by Governor Healey.”
