What the Bill Does
The Kids Online Safety Act will give parents the tools they need to keep their kids safe online.
This legislation will:
- Impose a “duty of care” requiring online platforms to act in children’s best interests.
- Compel Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, and others to mitigate risks to children’s safety.
- Require the strongest privacy and safety settings by default.
Why We Need It
We need KOSA, because right now, kids are dying as a result of online harms that could easily be prevented. Young people are being lost to suicide, drug use, viral challenges, and other dangers fueled by Big Tech’s algorithms and deadly business model. KOSA will help change that.
This bill is overwhelmingly popular. Now we just need Senate leaders to advance the legislation.
