Fairplay Executive Director Josh Golin released the following statement today:

“It’s shocking that even as Meta is on trial in two different states for addicting and harming kids, it’s trying to get even more children to use its products. These trials have shown that addicting kids while they’re young is an integral part of Meta’s business plan. Even if these new parental tools work as promised — and, given Meta’s history of false promises, that’s a big ‘if’ — trying to make WhatsApp messaging the norm for younger children shows that Meta is addicted too: It’s addicted to profiting off of kids, no matter what the cost is to their health or well-being.”
